Technical Difficulties features work by over 35 artists on a platform we all know and love
Starting this Friday is the officially unofficial Invasion Toys custom show, Technical Difficulties! Featuring the jaw-dropping work of over 35 artists, each one has done some amazing plastic surgery on a platform we’ve all drooled over.
PLUS! A select few artists have decided to flex their talent on DIY pieces by our homies over at Boundless Brooklyn! More on that after the jump.
Many have asked why our show must be (officially) unofficial and why we can’t mention a certain artist’s name or the name of his platform.
Suffice to say, though they gave us full permission to hold Technical Difficulties, the management team of that particular artist requested we ‘keep the peace’ with a particular producer and avoid using the artist and platform names.
We’ve taken the request in stride, and prefer to focus on the beautiful work and formidable talent of our artist pool.
Thus was born Technical Difficulties! An officially unofficial Invasion Toys custom event.
For Technical Difficulties, we’ve tapped some of the greatest toy artists in today’s designer collectibles industry. These are artists whom we’ve respected and loved before we even got into the biz ourselves, and we consider many of them to be today’s royalty of designer toy artists.
At the same time, we’re also lucky enough to feature some up-and-comers to the scene. We aren’t here to gatekeep, and in our eyes, everyone is welcome to join the Invasion family.
Without further ado, and in no particular order, here are the individuals responsible for making Technical Difficulties so incredible:
To all the artists who are joining the Invasion, here’s a big ol’ THANK YOU from the Invasion crew. We couldn’t do it without you! 👾💖’s ⛎
Artists marked with an asterisk have pieces that may not arrive to us in time for the show. Stay tuned, we’ll have more on these customs some time down the line.
We’re not going to spoil all the customs in this article. That would be too easy! Instead we’re dropping select previews of a few custom toys-that-shall-not-be-named paired with the Boundless Brooklyn piece each artist is adding to Technical Difficulties.
Boundless Brooklyn is a purveyor of DIY 3D papercraft models made of 100% recycled material. They have billboards, half pipes, water towers, lighthouses, and mailboxes, and they’re currently hard at work developing a new product.
That’s all we’ve got for now! We certainly have much more in store, so keep your eyes peeled for more previews going out before the event.
Technical Difficulties starts May 21 @ 12pm EST, when all customs will go up for purchase in the Invasion Toys web shop.
